How to Host the Ultimate "Home Alone" Themed Holiday Party

How to Host the Ultimate "Home Alone" Themed Holiday Party

Every year I host a holiday party for all of my girlfriends, and every year we have some sort of theme. In the past we have done a Christmas pajama party, apres ski, ugly sweater, fancy dress up, and more. Last year I wanted to change things up a bit, I got my inspiration from watching the Home Alone movies, approximately 52,827 times from Thanksgiving on, I am not complaining, as they are my all time favorite holiday movies. I did know, however, that this party and it’s theme was going to be a relatively large undertaking and needed proper planning, so the lists ensued. I hope this post helps you if you want to plan the party yourself, this took a lot of work and I happy to share the fruits of my labor to make your party planning easier!! Also, I have been making great efforts to utilize thrifted or used decor in efforts to make my entertaining more eco-friendly. If you are looking for some great holiday gifts for kids please check out www.myfancylunch.com for my line of eco-friendly tableware for kids! We have a rainbow charcuterie board that is a huge hit at parties and playdates!

Attire:

  • I asked if people could dress like a character from the movie, or at least like a person from the 90’s would dress around Christmas. Our friends did a great job!

  • My Family took it to the next level and we all dressed up as “Home Alone” characters for both the party and our Christmas card!

Other:

Instead of doing a grab bag or gift exchange I asked my friends to bring a new unwrapped toy to donate to a local organization that distributed toys to needy families in our community. The gifts were placed in a big “Duncan’s Toychest” box.

We told our Alexa to play the Home Alone Soundtrack on repeat during the party.

Source Information:

  • The cupcake toppers and quote print outs I had my friend Angela from “Just a Spoonful of Sparkle” make.

  • Anything I purchased online I linked above, where it is stated.

  • Buzz’s girlfriend’s picture I googled and printed an image, same for Little Nero’s Pizza.

  • Everything else I just gathered from my own home or mom/grandmother’s basement.

This was SUCH a fun party, and was probably my most favorite party theme to date. Hope this post provides inspiration and helpful tips so that you can re-create an awesome “Home Alone” themed party of your own!

Thanks for reading, ya filthy animals!
